CANDY GIRL CANDY BOY - 28th Dec, 2010

We are obsessed with photographic booklets with words on them aka MAGAZINES!! We stumbled across Candy whilst in Donlan bookshop on London's Broadway Market. It is the first high fashion magazine completely dedicated to celebrating transvestism, transexuality, cross dressing and androgyny. It's one of the most exciting new titles we have seen in a while. To kick of the second issue James Franco adorns the cover, shot by Terry Richardson. Check out Candy's video set to Bow Wow Wow's 'I Love Candy' what is there not to love!

Inside we loved the transformations of some of the fashions fiercest faces into major fashion icons. Candy founder Luis Venegas as Anna Wintour by Brett Lloyd. Model Charles Guislain as Twiggy shot by legendary photographer Barry Lategan. Stylist/uber fashion vixen Jeanpaul Paula as Grace Jones by Anuschka Blommers and Niels Schumm.

AU REVOIR - 20th Dec, 2010

We were speechless when we heard that the groundbreaking Editor-in-Chief of French Vogue,Carine Roitfeld had resigned after 10 years. Since being at the helm, each issue has been a cacophony of iconic fashion photography. We will miss her monthly tomes of inspiration but hey, fashion is all about new beginnings...we're looking forward to what she does next. In the meantime take a look of some of our favourite covers.

Fashion history was made on Sunday when Michelle Obama opted for a 1950s dress at a televised concert in Washington. It was designed by the late, acclaimed, mid-century American designer, Norman Norell. This is big news as she is the FIRST every First Lady to go green and wear vintage, Michelle we salute you!

Check out another offering from Norman, he was famed for his elegant evening wear and for translating the style and tailoring of French Couture to American ready-to-wear.  Norell was also the founder and president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) the governing body of the American fashion industry.

The decadent New York Vintage in Chelsea has been claimed as the lucky seller of 'the' dress, expect Forever 21 to be whipping up copies to hit stores soon!

When we’re on our buying trips we often come across items that are completely off the agenda; as we need them in our lives we buy them anyway. The first example of such frivolity is the book, National Portraits by Daniel Meadows. Page upon page of photographic images taken in the 1970's of ordinary folk. Think you’ll agree we couldn’t have left this gem behind. Daniel is still going strong and is currently exhibiting as part of Cameras in the Community exhibition at Plymouth Arts Centre.

Big news today..our Supermarket Sarah wall goes live! This is the first time that you can buy are vintageness on the interweb. Take a look, once it's gone, it's gone (said in Southern American accent). Here are some exclusive behind the scenes shots of how we did it!

MID CENTURY MADNESS - 12th Dec, 2010

We stumbled across an amazing mid-century furniture sale on Saturday hosted by Rocket Gallery in Shoreditch. All our favs were there Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm, Jens Risom, Børge Morgensen, Kurt Østervig & Robin Day, mesmerizing!

TO THE BEAT OF THE DRUM - 10th Dec, 2010

When BEAT a new music newspaper arrived on our desk we flicked through and immediately loved their irreverent Q&As combined with high octane photography. If you see a copy PICK IT UP!

HOT HASBEENS - 9th Dec, 2010

Waiting for Spring/Summer 2011 to get out our strappy Hasbeens once more, they make our face happy!

We'd been excitedly counting down the days on our advent calendar until the opening night of Print Club's annual exhibition. Held at their Dalston headquarters last Friday the format was easy, 40 exhibiting artists, 40 signed prints by each, selling for £40!

The bit that really got things going was upon the sound of an air raid siren, we were plunged into darkness to reveal each print glowing in the dark like a Snugglebum. It was like Alton Towers (but better).

IT'S XMAS - 6th Dec, 2010

We're all a but tiddly with the excitement of the tinsel season. As you know we love a old photo or 17, take a look at this one. Video camera on a tripod..check.TV in what looks like a small cupboard..check. 1981 handmade stocking..check!

WELCOME - 6th Dec, 2010

With the launch of this blog we wanted to create a virtual scrapbook of exclusive clippings, memories, photographs & news. We are inspired by everything from the mundane to the grandiose. The people we see, books we read, places we visit, objects we touch. Culture, both popular and underground help us shape the items we buy and forecast the trends you will want. We welcome you to our travels, hope you enjoy the ride!!
