LOUBOUTIN LOVE IN - 3rd May, 2012
Monday night is normally a quiet night on the party circuit but not this week as we donned our best outfits and made our way to London’s Design Museum for the VIP launch for Parisian shoe designer, Christian Louboutin's retrospective. The room was packed (we heard that the guest list was 400 over capacity) which wouldn’t surprise us as Louboutin is the KING of shoes. The highlight was Christian’s speech, made whilst we admired Holly Fulton (wearing her own designs) and watched the paparazzi go wild for Mika wearing men Louboutin’s. His main inspiration were the dancers of the Folies Bergère who he used to design for. His love of the theatre, feathers and beautiful dresses started at an early age. The Design Museum itself had been transformed to an almost Belle Époque fun fair. There was a brightly lit shoe carousel and decorated gold sea shells catwalk featuring his most iconic designs . He spoke of his love and the shared passions between himself and Dita Von Teese, exclaiming that he “had to meet her” when he first saw her. They are now like “two little birds together” and indeed Dita was in attendance to share the night with her friend. We saw her watching herself in the captivating hologram (yes hologram) of her burlesque performance. Other famous faces who attended were Roland Mouret, Henry Holland, Jasmine Guinness, Bip Ling and Daphne Guinness. We we’re actually introduced to Dita who has the most exquisite porcelain skin and delicate frame in real life, we can see why Christian fell hopelessly in love!
